This week’s mix is a tribute to Tony Allen who sadly passed away last week.
Allen was a legendary drummer who started his career as the band leader for Fela Kuti, and in turn helped to create what has become known as Afrobeat. Since those early days, Allen went on to release a number of solo projects and also appeared on tracks from the likes of Gorillaz, Damon Albarn, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Air and Common to name just a few.
