Roots to Grooves – Dry Cleaning

Welcome to our weekly podcast “Roots to Grooves”.
Each episode explores the music, life and careers of musical artists from their earliest beginnings through to their most recent releases.

This week musicians Jay Purcell and Jesse Quigley discuss the career and creative approaches of South London post-punk band “Dry Cleaning“.

Dry Cleaning” are an English post-punk band who formed in South London in 2018. Despite being relatively new to the scene, the core members have been playing music together, and in seperate acts for over decade. When career success eluded them they took once last stab at a new project, and after a chance meeting with vocalist Florence Shaw, the sound of “Dry Cleaning” was born. Her vocals have been described by some as culturally relevant, but singing and performing did not come naturally to Florence, and it took some convincing for her to officially join the band. There is a lot more to know. Listen to Jay and Jesse getting into the details on this latest episode of Roots to Grooves.
